150 years of art history at TU Darmstadt

Art history at Technical University of Darmstadt celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019. To mark this anniversary, a research project was launched to explore the history of art history at Darmstadt. What has been taught when? What researches have been done? What role did this discipline play with regard to professional training and education at a university of technology?

A cooperation project between the Professorship of History of Art at the Institute of History of Architecture and Art at the Department of Architecture and the Professorship of Fashion and Aesthetics at the Institute of General and Vocational Education at the Department of Human Sciences.

Project funding: Funding in accordance with the QSL Act (Gesetz zur Verbesserung der Qualität der Studienbedingungen und der Lehre an hessischen Hochschulen – Law to Improve the Quality of Study Conditions and Teaching at Hessian Universities) received by Technical University of Darmstadt.

During the winter semester 2020/21, a course on this topic was held for students in the fields of architecture, education and body care headed by Lisa Beißwanger and Dr. Miriam Oesterreich.
